Carrying on with my SharePoint 2010 vs. SharePoint 2013 analysis, below is a chart indicating the key differences in the hardware, software and browser requirements between SharePoint 2010 and the new SharePoint 2013.

The most key differences in my opinion are the increased RAM requirements for the hardware.  I’ve tried to highlight and point out the key differences in the chart below.  Please let me know if you find any discrepancies.

This data is taken is taken from the following Microsoft TechNet sources:

Hardware and software requirements (SharePoint Server 2010)

Hardware and software requirements for SharePoint 2013

Plan browser support (SharePoint Server 2010)

Plan browser support in SharePoint 2013

Disclaimer: As SharePoint 2013 RTM has just been released, I’m sure there are still updates being made to these articles so please refer to the TechNet articles for any more information required as well as updates. Microsoft states that some values in this article are based on test results from SharePoint 2010 Products and may not represent the final values for SharePoint Server 2013 and that they will update the article with appropriate values as SharePoint Server 2013 data becomes more generally available.

I will try and update this chart as they release more information.

Requirement/Component SharePoint 2010 SharePoint 2013
Hardware requirements—location of physical servers
Physical Farm Location Not Published All servers that belong to a server farm, including database servers, must physically reside in the same datacenter. Redundancy and failover between closely located data centers that are configured as a single farm (“stretched farm”) is not supported in SharePoint 2013.
